Aims & Objectives
This course is for anyone who works in an environment where they could come into contact with or use equipment that uses electricity. The course gives a basic understanding of electricity in the workplace and the dangers associated with it.
Course Content
- 
		Basic principles – how electricity works 
- 
		Where electricity is found – electricity networks LV and HV, underground and overhead cables, substations 
- 
		The risks associated with electricity 
- 
		Health and Safety Legislation – including Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 
- 
		Safe Systems of Work – RAMS, permits and isolation 
- 
		Protection against Electric Shock – earthing, RCD’s 
- 
		Protection against over-current and fire – fuses and MCB’s 
- 
		Checking electrical apparatus and installations for safety
